FEMINA GROUP REBUILDING ONE MORE SCHOOL IN BLANG MEE  After the handing over of the completed rebuilt State Elementary (SN) in Peurade, Penteraja Regency, Pidie District, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) in October 2005, the Femina Group Reader's Fund Raising continued to channel the funds to Aceh Besar Regency. The rebuild school is SDN Blang Mee, located in Lamkuta Blang Mee village, sub-district Lhoong, Aceh Besar Regency, NAD.
The SDN Blang Mee is located at the side of the main road of Banda Aceh - Meulaboh, on the west coast of West Sumatera. Before the Tsunami there were 200 students and is the main building of the State Elementary School in this area. As the earthquake and Tsunami washed out this area on 26 December 2004, what was left were, only the floor of the building; hit by the water tide that too was almost taken apart.  The surviving Lhoong people were not more than 25 percent, including students. As soon as the situation was accommodating, the remaining survivors immediately worked on rebuilding their village. Eventually, wanderers originating from this village who lived in other area also came back in significant numbers to help rebuild their village again. As expected in a very short time, this village that were once totally wiped out to the grounds including the sea shores wiped by the tide for about 500 meters are now very alive with new homes and ready to accommodate those staying in tends living below proper residential standard.
"At present activities in this area are gradually restored," said the Blang Mee Head of Village, Abbas Ali. "Children are back to schools, but since there is no school building yet, they have to attend school at the neighboring village located on top of the hill. The distance is 2 kilometer from our village.  It is for those reasons, that the Femina Group Reader's Fund Raising choose to rebuild an elementary school in this place, the SDN Blang Mee. Funds allocated for this project is about Rp.817 million, and for its other supporting infrastructure about Rp.50 million. The total amount allocated is thus Rp. 867 million.
According to plan, this SDN consisting of 6 class rooms units, 1 room for the teacher's room and principal office, 1 auditorium and 2 houses for the teachers will be completed by mid July 2006. Hopefully, at the beginning of the new scholar year, SDN Blang Mee students now borrowing classes in other schools, can start their new school activity in their own new school.
